Dhobighat, Laundromat and the Dhobis: Nine Month After the Demolitions

Dear all,

It has been around nine months since the dhobighat was demolished. The dhobi-families kept working out in the open through the scorching summer of Kanpur, the rainy months and now the winters. There was a mail circulated to the Institute community that the laundromat equipped with state-of-the-art washing machines and dryers was open for use. We decided to check out the facility and also to see how the dhobi-families were working at present.
