Communiqué on the death of Shri Rohit contract labourer on 18 May 2011

The Institute regrets to convey the sad and untimely accidental death of a worker engaged by a contractor at a civil construction site in the Institute. The brief facts are as under:

Shri Rohit aged about 22 yrs., S/o Shri Bankey Lal R/o Bhaunti, Kanpur was working on the site of multi storied single bed room apartment, under M/s Bombay Sales & Co., Lucknow contractor since 02nd May 2011. At around 11:30 A.M. on 18.05.2011, he was working on the scaffolding on the outer face of the building at the 5th floor. It is reported that while handing over the mortar to a mason, he slipped from the temporary platform on the scaffolding and fell to the ground. Shri Rohit was rushed to the Regency Hospital in an Institute ambulance where unfortunately he was declared brought dead. From the Regency Hospital, he was taken to the Hallet Hospital as per requirement. The Doctor at the Hallet Hospital after examination declared him dead and the body was then sent to the mortuary for further necessary procedures. The parents were informed and they also reached Hallet Hospital. The contractor is being asked to fulfill all the legal requirements in this regard as soon as possible. The Director has ordered an enquiry into the matter.
