What is this ride all about?

This is about riding scooters all the way across America. This is a 2 week (16 day) adventure on back USA paved roads. In the eastern USA much of the route is formed from the routes that the Bicycle groups have developed. In the midwest there will be countless farm roads, and in the west there is a lot of openness and beauty. The route will be 3868 miles long and there are 49 gas stops. We will cross the Rockies and our highest elevation will be 10947 feet. Each days route includes several gas stops and a lunch stop. Most days finish at the motel around 5pm. (Note old style Motels not Hotels). Most days will require 8 hours of riding time.

Details about the ride

It is just a group of like minded people getting together to have fun on scooters and discover america and themselves along the way. It is about making new friendships, testing your limits and climbing your own mountains.

Riders will break up into small riding groups of 6 rider or less. As the days progress riders will change riding groups based on ride comptabilite, speed, friendships and relationships.

All riders should carry a gps and will be given route information.

Riders should carry a phone and will be given the numbers of fellow riders and the support truck.

Support Truck Info

Riders will have a support truck or sometimes called a chase truck that will follow behind the ride each day. The role of the support truck will be to carry the personal overnight gear for each rider and to aid rider in the event of scooter failure or problems. Each rider will be asked to contribute to cover the cost for the support truck team. The support truck and team are volunteers and will carry some tools necessary for the repair of scooters. Riders can contact the support truck by phone or text most of the time when cell service permits.

We need 2 or 3 Support truck volunteers

Q: How did you develop the scooter route?

A: Long story, but you can read the blog here: Scooter Route PreRide 2014

Q: What happens if I have trouble with my scooter?

A:It is not just about you riding your scooter across america, it is about all of us riding across america, it is about helping your fellow rider and laughing along the way. Everyone needs help at some time, but would your friends say that you are more likely to need help on a ride or are you more likely to offer help on a ride? When everyone comes prepared to be more helpful then rides turn out awesome. Come with this attitude! You will find lots of helpful people on this ride.
