Big Bear 165

This ride will be a 165-mile loop through the San Bernardo National Forest.

This will be an intermediate ride with some advanced red route options.

STAGING

We will stage off Hwy 38 near the city of Mentone. It’s a large paved parking area 100 yards from the trailhead. In the past I have found this parking area to be very secure. It is only 2 miles from the Ranger Station. No adventure pass needed.

Directions from Interstate 10

Exit Oak Glen Rd, Northeast for 4.25 miles.

Left on Bryant, North for 2.4 miles

Right on Hwy 38, Northeast for 2.1 miles

Arrive at Staging, about 15 min from freeway.

GPS download for the ride

Note: In the Download window, Select the down arrow in the top middle of the screen. That will get you everything.

To install your Custom Garmin Ride Map, get a blank SD card, and copy the folder "garmin" to the card. Then just put the card into your gps and the map should be there when you turn your gps on.

Note the download includes a jpg file for printing your own paper map: Folder "8x10 Map Prints"

FAQ: What garmin folder? The folder named garmin should have the "gmapsupp.img" file inside. If you just downloaded the "gmapsupp.img" file, then you need to create a folder on your SD card named "garmin" and put the "gmapsupp.img" file inside it.
