Ride Description

This ride is a great adventure ride around the Arches National Park. The ride starts out on HY128 following the Colorado River for 31 miles and crossing the river near the famous Dewey Bridge, now destroyed by fire (stop and check out the story of the bridge). The ride briefly joins the Kokopelli’s Trail and then connects to the Dome Plateau Jeep Trail. There are several natural arches in this area so keep a look out. The ride continues along the back side of the Arches National Park through the Poison Strip Mine, now abandoned and Yellow Cat Flat. Next the ride begins south along Salt Valley Road. Here you get the option of finishing the ride through the center of Arches National Park on the Green line or continuing on the Blue route. There is no gas available on the Green route and your distance for the day should be 115 miles. This is the scenic route through the center of the park. Staying on the Blue route takes you into the Klondike Bluffs mountain bike area. Here you get the Red option to ride the Sovereign Single Track trail. This is a 15 mile trail through the rocks with many obstacles. At times this can be challenging. There is gas at 98 miles at the Shell station. The last 10 miles to Moab is on the highway. What’s fun about this ride? It is kind of a scenic relaxing adventure. gpsKevin
