June 16th-19th 2014

Video from the last ride in this area

Come join us for a scenic 5-day ride through the majestic Redwoods and mountains of Northern California.

The ride will be a mix of country road, dirt roads, and of courses the beautiful Highways 1 &101. Each day will end at a motel where we can enjoy a good meal and explore the communities of Northern California.

Day One will take us from Red Bluff south along country roads to Stoneyford where we will hit the dirt and make our way to Hwy 20 and on to Fort Bragg.

Day Two will see us driving north on historic Hwy 1 through the Richardson Grove State Park and on to Garberville. From Garberville we’ll head east to Ruth Lake, north to Hayfork, then on to Weaverville for the night.

Day Three takes us west on Hwy 299 along the Trinity River and on to the community of Hoopa where we will cross over the coastal range to Orick. From there it's north along the coast highway through the heart of the Redwoods and on to Gold Beach Oregon.

Day Four takes us east along the Rogue River then south to Cave Junction Oregon and a visit to Oregon Caves National Monument. From the caves we go south over the mountain and end in the tiny community of Happy Camp for the night.

Day Five will take us through the Seiad Valley and south to the Scott Valley where we continue on to Trinity Lake, then east to Redding where we will start our journey home.

OK since many of you might like to study more detail about the ride, below are the ride maps.

I put these ride maps on the web page because I know a few of you love looking at the ride detail and dreaming about the ride. At first glance these maps do not look so impressive, but they are way cool. If you click the Earth or Satellite tab and start zooming in, you can see the ride in incredible detail. I have spent a ton of hours sorting through the details of the ride for each day, so for those of you that enjoy this sort of thing, well enjoy!

Set Your GPS up yourself before the ride:

Download: Zipped Folder includes: Printable ride map, gpx file with Tracklogs and Waypoints, and Custom Garmin Ride Map.

Download Note: In the Download window, from the file menu, select FIle:Download. That will get you everything.

To install your Custom Garmin Ride Map, get a blank SD card, and copy the folder "garmin" to the card. Then just put the card into your gps and the map should be there when you turn your gps on.

FAQ: What garmin folder? The folder named garmin should have the "gmapsupp.img" file inside. If you just downloaded the "gmapsupp.img" file, then you need to create a folder on your SD card named garmin and put the "gmapsupp.img" flie in it.
