Nevada Explorer Rally

May 17-19 2013

Ride postponed dates are TBD

3 Day Explorer Ride Around Nevada

About the Ride:

This is a explorer style ride all about discovering new back remote places in Nevada. And there are some really cool places. The ride starts in Tonopah. Destination for day one is Austin, NV , day two is Eureka, NV and day three brings us back to Tonopah. Each evening we will stay in a new hotel. The ride has great route options for both big adventure bikes and smaller dual sport bikes. This is not a difficult ride, but the distances are long each day. The ride is a mix of mountains and deserts, all in very remote places. If we get enough riders and I can find a volunteer, we will have a support truck to carry our gear each day and meet us at strategic locations for gas.

This is a gps ride. You will need a Garmin gps with a microSD card slot.

I can recommend one if you like, send me an email.

With your ride sign up you will receive a microSD card with custom maps for the ride and gps files by email.

Saturday evening you will receive gps training during the rider's meeting

You will also receive paper map handouts.

How does the ride Navigation work?

This is a self-led GPS ride; all riding is on your own. You are responsible for your own riding. You will be given a GPS map file and instruction on how to use your Garmin GPS unit. People will hook up in small groups of less than 6 riders and tend to ride together. You are not encouraged to ride alone. You are responsible for your own riding and yourself. (see my ride Navigation Video)

Support Truck Volunteer needed?

Are you coming to the ride and maybe have a friend that would like to join us as a support truck driver. Would that person be willing to use their own truck or maybe yours as the support vehicle. I will be happy to pay for gas and lodging to that person. The person will need to help with the set up of the lunches each day.

If you have any ideas of someone that might enjoy helping us out, please contact me.

Ride Plan Maps

I put these ride maps on the web page because I know a few of you love looking at the ride detail and dreaming about the ride. At first glance these maps do not look so impressive, but they are way cool. If you click the Earth or Satellite tab and start zooming in, you can see the ride in incredible detail. I have spent a ton of hours sorting through the details of the ride for each day, so for those of you that enjoy this sort of thing, well enjoy!

Legend:

The Red lines are optional harder dirt roads

The Blue lines are the main route, mixed dirt roads and jeep roads

The Green lines are optional easy routes graded dirt roads and paved
