4 Days of Moab Ride Review 2015 ‎(Responses)‎

Video from the ride

Join us for this 4 day Dual Sport Ride around the Moab area.

About the ride:

This ride is all about exploring the back areas around Moab, the ride will have several choices depending on your desires and the level of adventure that you would like. I have put together 13 of the best rides and each of the rides has choices on the level of difficulty that you might like. You can choose an easy scenic ride or you can choose a tough guys obstacle ride or anything in between. These are custom rides. I will be customizing each ride to fit you or your ride desires. Really, Yes I have gotten very good at this. And this place is awesome so that makes it easy. For those of you that like to dream or study the ride ahead of time below you will find descriptions of each of the different rides. Enjoy. For those of you that just want to come and ride, skip all this and just signup below and come to the ride. I will so hook you up! Fun

The ride is structured as a 4 day ride so that some can adjust their work schedules to think of this as just a 4 day weekend. Many riders will travel to Moab from southern California. Some from other places. The plan for many will be to leave work around noon on Friday then drive hard and arrive in Moab around 11pm. Then it will be to ride the four days, but to ride a shorter day on the last day Tuesday so that they can make the trip back home for work on Wednesday morning.

Note: There is a lot of rides above to choose from so it can get hard. So each evening we meet and hang out in the Picnic Jacuzzi area of the hotel and discuss the ride options for the next day. Kind of just a social gathering to tell ride stories from the day, change riding groups for tomorrow and choose and adjust the next days ride.

How does the ride navigation work?

This is a self-led GPS ride; all riding is on your own. You are responsible for your own riding. You will be given a GPS map file and instructions on how to use your Garmin GPS unit. People will hook up in small groups of less than 6 riders and tend to ride together. You are not encouraged to ride alone. You are responsible for your own riding and yourself.

(see my ride Navigation Video)

Are you right for this ride?

When something goes wrong on a ride, would your riding friends say that you are more likely to need help or more likely to give help? You should be in the more likely to offer help camp. This ride is filled with riders that are more likely to give help, so most of the time the riders never need help. Additionally there is all the normal stuff, come prepared to maintain your bike, fix your bike on the trail, repair flat tires, deal with bad weather and rain and make a joke or two.

How do I make the GPS stuff so easy?

I develop very high quality ride maps custom for our ride, they come from much of what I and others have ridden. I take the best from all my rides and make new ones.

(See my Custom Ride Maps Video)

Note from me, gpsKevin

My goal for this ride is simple, great riding, so you can count on great routes and places to ride.

But in addition: The ride is about discovering new places, meeting new friends, seeing new parts of Moab.

Thanks

FAQ's

Q:What will the weather be like this time of year?

A: In March, the weather is often nice, could be a little cold in the morning and in the mountains. But sometimes there can be rain and snow in the mountains. Some years the snow in the mountains is a problem. Snow can force us to change our routes. Come prepared with extra gear for cold and wet.

Q: Would this be a good Noobs Ride?

A: No, this ride is for experienced riders only, some sections can be tough. The riding has easy route choices. You will find lots of supportive people at the ride.

Q; What do I do if I don't have a garmin gps?

A: Buy one, you need it, we will show you how to use it. You can get a great one for $100 bucks. ( See gpsKevin's gps recommendations)

Q: Is the riding really on my own?

A: Yes, but almost everyone hooks up and rides with a friend, or a new friend or me.
