Lost Coast Roulette Ride Review 2014 ‎‎(Responses)‎‎

Original ride plan below:

July 27-August 2 2014

This is a weeks long explorer ride to discover the California Lost Coast, Pacific Ocean, the Redwood Forests and the remote mountains of northern California.

I call this a Half Throttle ride because it mostly a scenic explorer rides rather than an aggressive go hard ride.

The ride is a week long and we will be spending each night in a hotel, eating from local restaurants. You will need to pack and carry your overnight gear on your motorcycle.

This ride is called Roulette because it is an explorer ride where we will discover new routes and places, so sometimes the routes are a bit of a gamble. So if you’re up for this kind of adventure join us for another

“Great ride in life”

This is a gps ride. You will need a Garmin gps with a microSD card slot.

If you need a gps see my recommendations. Adventure Bike GPS or Dual Sport GPS

With your ride sign up you will receive a microSD card with custom maps for the ride and gps files by US mail.

Saturday evening you will receive gps training during the rider's meeting

You will also receive paper map handouts.

How does the ride Navigation work?

This is a self-led GPS ride; all riding is on your own. You are responsible for your own riding. You will be given a GPS map file and instruction on how to use your Garmin GPS unit. People will hook up in small groups of less than 6 riders and tend to ride together. You are not encouraged to ride alone. You are responsible for your own riding and yourself. (see my ride Navigation Video)

FAQ's

Q: Would this be a good ride for riding 2 up with my partner?

A: No not really, there could be some tough sections. If you are both experts in the dirt it would be ok.

Ride Plan Maps Below

I put these ride maps on the web page because I know a few of you love looking at the ride detail and dreaming about the ride. At first glance these maps do not look so impressive, but they are way cool. If you click the Earth or Satellite tab and start zooming in, you can see the ride in incredible detail. I have spent a ton of hours sorting through the details of the ride for each day, so for those of you that enjoy this sort of thing, well enjoy!

Legend:

The Red lines are optional harder dirt roads

The Blue lines are the main route, mixed paved and graded dirt roads

The Green lines are optional easy routes
