Ride Stories, from the survivors:

Hello Big Bear Trail Riders,

Just wanted to send a huge 'Thank You' your way for putting on what was the absolute best dual sport event I have ever participated in. Your club exemplifies every quality that makes a well run, organized, successful and enjoyable motorcycle organization. We should all be so lucky as your members. Words or text simply cannot explain what a joy it is to participate in one of your events, The Big Bear Trail Ride especially. I cannot begin to imagine the logistics and planning it must take to put together such an incredible ride each year. Huge kudos to all involved.

In 25 years of dirt riding I have NEVER been challenged so thoroughly as the 15th annual Big Bear Trail Ride. Your ride sits comfortable between Marine Corps School of Infantry and The San Diego Marathon on my list of “Most Difficult Things I've Ever Completed.” Nice work.

In addition to the thorough beat down the BBTR put on my body and mind there were MANY lessons learned that I plan on passing on to my friends and family in the future. Just a few of those lessons are annotated below:

1 – Any Big Bear Trail Rider under the age of 45 is a better rider than you are. Act accordingly.

2 - Any Big Bear Trail Rider over the age of 45 is a FAR better rider than you are. Act accordingly.

3 - Any Big Bear Trail Rider wearing an “Over 60 and Proud of It” t-shirt so much better a rider than you are that I wouldn't even pass those guys if they're getting gas. Better to wait it out...The final tattered remains of your youth and self confidence will thank me. Act accordingly.

4 – Single-track as you know it is probably two-track as Any Big Bear Trail Rider knows it.

5 – The easiest part of the BBTR isn't.

6 – The GPS track is correct...the route really does go up that hill.

7 – Any BMW over 451cc's is too much BMW for the BBTR.

Once again, thanks a million times over for putting on such an amazing event. I'll recommend your ride to all my masochistic, BMW riding brethren in the future.
