Jesus - The teacher (Vol 3 No 37)

Jesus, a teacher bold

Used wisdom new and old

To give the peasants hope –

The ones who could not cope

With unjust systems of his day;

He preached and taught a different way.

He said God’s love was sure;

No need for temple law;

For him God was at hand;

‘Gainst priests he took his stand;

Incurring wrath of those in power,

He struggled to let justice flower.

He could not be ignored;

Rome’s violence used the sword!

And Jesus knew the cost;

His truth could not be lost;

And so he went to Calvary

To claim for all true equity.

His claim was not in vain;

His life and love remain;

He’s there in those who strive

To help what’s good survive;

His death and resurrection show

That love still lives. Let justice grow!
