Difference (Vol 2 No 89)
Difference is the language of reality;
Whispered, spoken, shouted by variety;
If we had no difference, no diversity,
We would be the victims of monotony.
Thankful for the Difference - race, religion, rite,
We have many pathways, searching for the light.
Different chords and rhythms dream up melody;
Different notes combining fashion harmony;
We can learn from music, notes are black and white,
Yet when played together give us such delight.
We embrace the Difference in all humankind,
Cultures and religions, with an open mind.
Rainbow’s different colours, each a pleasing sight,
When they’re fused together form authentic light;
Contrasts are exciting, others blend so well;
Colours with their Difference cast a dazzling spell.
Thankful for the Difference - race, religion, rite,
We have many pathways, searching for the light.
Nature’s different species have their special name,
All are co-dependent; none are quite the same;
Birds and beasts, and creatures dwelling in the seas,
We affirm their Difference as with forest trees.
We embrace the Difference in all humankind,
Cultures and religions, with an open mind.
Nature, colour, music teach of harmony,
Demonstrating Difference deepens unity;
Sacred books and worship, liturgies and song
All are very different and they all belong.
Thankful for the Difference - race, religion, rite,
We have many pathways, searching for the light.
