Jesus, the Very Thought of Thee
At the suggestion of my Stake Music Chair, I decided to use this hymn as a warm-up with my ward choir. We sang it for many weeks from the hymnbook working on parts, then blend, intonation, following the conductor, etc. I wanted to sing it in church, but desired an arrangement using the parts they already knew. This arrangement came quickly one Sunday afternoon after weeks of pondering. It is simple and reverent, reflecting the text's message of gratitude and love for Christ.

LYRICS
Jesus, the very thought of thee
With sweetness fills my breast,
But sweeter far thy face to see
And in thy presence rest.
Nor voice can sing, nor heart can frame,
Nor can the mem'ry find
A sweeter sound than thy blest name,
O Savior of mankind!
O hope of ev'ry con-trite heart,
O joy of all the meek,
To those who fall, how kind thou art!
How good to those who seek!
Jesus, our only joy be thou,
As thou our prize wilt be;
Jesus, be thou our glory now,
And thru eternity.
