This song was inspired by Cristina B. Franco's October 2020 Conference talk, "The Healing Power of Jesus Christ", where she testified that Christ can give us 'beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness.... ' (Isaiah 61:3)

Waiting,

I sit forever waiting.

What once felt so pervading

Feels like it’s hiding now.

Fading,

The memories are fading.

It feels so neverending

Since I could feel Him.

I read the promises again;

I need an old familiar friend.

I open my heart and seek to find

My hope again.

He promises beauty for ashes,

That He can renew my strength.

When my spirit feels heavy,

He gives the garment of praise.

I need to mount up with wings as eagles

And let my scars all fade away.

Can He bind up my broken heart?

Slowly,

I feel it oh so slowly,

Emerging from the darkness

To lift my weary soul.

Maybe,

I feel Him in a new way,

And see Him on a new day,

Unfolding light for me.

I read the promises again,

And like an old familiar friend,

My hope again.

He gives me beauty for ashes;

He will renew my strength.

As I choose to humbly wait on the Lord,

I can finally run and not be weary;

I can walk and not faint.
