Rain comes pouring down my window
Mirroring the turmoil felt.
Thoughts of quiet desperation
Creeping down from hidden shelf.
Tenuous the road I balance
Teetering from sorrow, joy.
Perilous the consequence if
Finite strength is misemployed.
Leaning, twisting, redirecting
Weight and burden placed on me.
Trusting God, but using wisdom
Past perspective’s granted me.
How to love and lift a burden
I don’t have the strength to lift?
How to carry someone’s sorrow
When my own’s so simply spilt?
Carrying is Shepherd’s business,
He has strength beyond my own.
I can’t soothe the hidden sorrows,
He has suffered for His own.
Humbly, wobbling, I can offer
Testimony of His strength,
Hands that lift us higher, stronger.
Outstretched in eternal length.
He’s the reason I am standing,
Carefully and very still.
Perfect love sequesters heartache
Once submitted to His will.
