On Canyon Grand
Vast with grandeur
Imposing scale
Etched through eons
Creating vistas
Of wonder,
Might,
And majesty.
Almost unfathomable
And yet,
I see it.
Isolated
From civilization,
From other natural phenomenon.
Beauty
Carved in the desert
Simply
For the sake of beauty.
Incomprehensible
To consider
Its formation
Until I see,
A river.
One lone,
Seemingly wandering
Stream,
Slipping silently,
Sinking striations
Through stone.
Seemingly impenetrable
And yet,
I see it.
Patient perseverance
Directed carefully
Over time
Can completely
Transform
A landscape,
A vista,
A life.
