Go Tell It on the Mountain

My friend and I needed something fun to sing for a Christmas party. This is the result! It came quickly one morning as I thought about how to craft something a little less classical with a little more energy than our typical Christmas Carols.  It's written for two females, but I think could work equally well with male or mixed voices. Don't take the rhythms too seriously, and feel free to add your own styling.  This is a fun one!

LYRICS

While shepherds kept their watching o'er silent flocks by night,

Behold, throughout the heavens, there shone a holy light.

Go tell it on the mountain, over the hills and ev'rywhere;

Go, tell it on the mountain that Jesus Christ is born!

The shepherds feared and trembled when lo, above the earth,

Rang out the angel chorus that hailed our Savior's birth.

Down in a lowly manger, our humble Lord was born,

And God sent us salvation that blessed Christmas morn!

Go tell it on the mountain, over the hills and ev'rywhere;

Go, tell it on the mountain that Jesus Christ is born!

Shout it from the rooftops! Sing it thru the trees!

Clap your hands together! Fall down on your knees!

Bring your hallelujahs! Praise His holy name!

Jesus Christ is born today!

Go tell it on the mountain, over the hills and ev'rywhere;

Go, tell it on the mountain that Jesus Christ is born!

Jesus Christ is born!
