If Any of You Lack Wisdom
While subbing in Primary, I was inspired by lessons about the restoration of the gospel. A leader taught the children about Joseph Smith’s experience. She told them that she had learned about Joseph Smith in church, but it wasn't until she went home and read her own scriptures to learn about him for herself that she gained her very own testimony of Joseph Smith, as the Spirit testified to her that what she was reading was true. I was impressed that she sent the children to the scriptures so the Spirit could help them know the truth for themselves.
This song started out as a way to help children remember the text of James 1:5 “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.” But as I worked on the second verse, it became also a testimony that we can find guidance from God as we turn to His word. In so doing, we put ourselves in a place to #HearHim -- to learn from the Lord, to feel His Spirit, and to receive His guidance.

LYRICS
Joseph had a question, "Which church is really true?"
He searched the scriptures trusting God would show him what to do.
Heaven's power flowed into his heart and mind
As he read words of scripture which plainly testified:
If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God,
That giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not;
And it shall be given him.
Sometimes I have questions and don't know what to do,
But God gave me the scriptures to help me know the truth.
As I search and ponder, the Spirit teaches me
That God will hear and answer when I ask him faithfully.
If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God,
That giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not;
And it shall be given him.
