I wrote this piece to reflect on the similarities between those who waited and watched for the Savior to come, both at His birth, and again after His resurrection, and us, who wait for the Savior to come again.
I thought of Samuel the Lamanite's prophecy and how true followers of Christ waited for the signs to know He had been born. I remembered that they had also been told He would appear after His resurrection, and must have watched and waited and hoped for that day as they suffered through the destruction and darkness that came at His death. And then I thought of the darkness and fear that so many feel now, as we wait and hope for Him to come again.
I know He lives, and I know He will come, and I love that even as He told His disciples about the trials that would precede His coming, He comforted them saying,
"Be not troubled, for, when all these things shall come to pass, ye may know that the promises which have been made unto you shall be fulfilled."

LYRICS
A new star rising,
The heavens lighting
As Father sends His Holy Son.
Look to the heavens,
Come see the wonders,
Watching for the day when He will come.
Hosanna in the highest,
Messiah comes to Earth!
Hosanna, Holy Baby,
Proclaim His wondrous birth.
Thru mists of darkness,
In storms and tempests,
As ancient prophecies foretold,
Look to the heavens.
Come to the temple,
Watching for the day when He will come.
Hosanna in the highest,
Messiah from above!
Hosanna blessed Savior;
Hear Him, and feel His love.
The Light of the World,
The Hope of all creation,
Redeemer and Lord.
He has come, He will come,
I will watch for the day He comes!
Steadfast and faithful,
I will be ready,
I'll treasure up His holy word.
Thru signs and wonders,
I'll not be troubled,
Watching for the day when He will come!
Hosanna in the highest,
Messiah comes again!
Hosanna, Hallelujah,
King of Kings, Lord of Lords,
Light and Hope of the World,
He comes again!
So I'm watching for the day when He will come!
