Designs and Space

Artist Statement

Describe: I made four art pieces that show design and space. Three show negative space and one shows designs on grayscale. I used pencil for most of them except the leaf one where I also used watercolors. I used different pencils for the value strip so it could go from dark to light.

Analyze: I used framing in the value strip and in the leaf negative space painting. I changed a lot while I was doing the negative space drawings because I caught myself starting to draw the positive space.

Evaluate: The artwork is meant to help me practice negative space and also creating value in my artwork. It relates to my life because it teaches me new ways to make art.
