Time Capsule

Artist statement

For the time capsule, we had to make four pieces. One of a hallway, a self portrait, our hand, and an object that we use everyday. For the hallway I did it of one in my house, by my room. For the self portrait I did the bottom half of my face and hair. I drew my hand and my bed for the item I use everyday. I used a thin black marker for all of them except I also used colored pencils on the self portrait. I thought adding pink cheeks to my self portrait would make it more interesting to look at even though it's not very realistic. The drawing of the hallway is a perspective drawing so there's leading lines, but I think my bed drawing also kind of ended up being a perspective one. I actually found that one harder to do in terms of getting the right angles for perspective. I think the one that took me the longest was probably the hand drawing just because I tried to add detail and it was actually pretty hard to draw it from life, I kept forgetting what position my hand was in. I think all four of them could be stronger if I added background color and more detail to some of them. I think the hallway one and bed one need more detail and color.
