Anyone Can Cook: Version 1 Unfinished
Jan. 9. 20
Every year we do the inclusion project and it's never been my favorite, but this year I had an idea I really liked so I got super excited about it. I made a cooking scene where there is different types of people, some with physical disabilities. I wanted the background to be a homey kitchen environment and I filled the kitchen table with materials to make "Snowball cookies" which is a recipe I found on RaddishKids.
So far, I've sketched a drawing of 5 different people surrounding a kitchen table filled with ingredients, bowls, and a recipe. There's a little kid in the left corner looking up at the scene. There's a woman with one arm, a man, another woman, and a man in a wheelchair. I drew cabinets, a stove, and a window with some little decorations in the background. In the future, I'm planning on using acrylic paint to add color and then tracing lines with a black marker to create a cartoon-like painting. I'm going to make it colorful, but use lighter/ pastel colors.
I decided to make a kitchen cooking scene because I think that's an activity that anyone can do together. It could be a community activity and it's always fun in groups especially when the food turns out good. I think that in cooking, there's always something for people to do like cutting pecans or mixing dough and it's all inclusive.
