Milo the Cat Supports Organ and Tissue Donation
Size??
The donate life project is one we do every year. I like that we have to come up with a slogan before even beginning to sketch an idea. This year I wanted to do something with the idea of cats having 9 lives so I came up with "Cats have 9 lives. Human's don't. Consider Organ and Tissue donation." I painted a cat sitting on a tile floor with a bowl of food behind him and a little glowing red heart.
I used a free digital drawing app on my ipad and a fat stylus. I did it in layers starting with the background of the floor, then a sketch of a cat, colors, details, and then ending with the text that I had to put over the bottom of the cat. I did the text by making bubble letters and then coloring them in with a pen tool. One of the new "brushes" I discovered that really came in handy was the spray paints because I was able to do some shading like on the cats fur and eyes and on the floor tiles to make them look more realistic. This is only my second time doing digital art so although I kind of knew how to use the app already it still took me a while and didn't turn out exactly how I imagined. I hope that I can figure out how to make more realistic paintings digitally because I would've liked the cat to have more realistic fur.
I decided to do a cat because I sometimes forget about animals in my art and I really wanted to try doing a cat digitally. My favorite part of the finished product is probably the face because I think it has a cute look to it. I hope my message makes sense and that it encourages people to check yes for organ donation.
