School Closure Plans - 2

  • Student is expected to start working on each assignment in the noted time period and submit evidence of the work done. It is not necessary that they finish the assignment. However, the student should do his/ her best in a total of 30 - 40 minutes in a week, working in periods of 20 to 30 minutes.
  • Hopefully of help: BrainPOP topic Distance Learning - Learning from home can be challenging. This lesson might help students in setting themselves up for success by organizing their work better.

Week 11 (June 1 - 5)

Candy Quest (activity link - click here)

"Design your own candy troll character and go on a multi-level quest for candy to help your character find its way home. You'll solve coding puzzles to navigate your character through the human world, while avoiding obstacles and collecting gumdrops and mints."

Student should take the time to think and make a plan to solve each puzzle.

Students will be able to apply these concepts:

- Use visual code blocks to create a program

- Sequence steps in a program

- Use loops for repetition

- Break down a problem and create an algorithm to solve it

Week 10 (May 25 - 31)

Create a Google Slide presentation - task 2

Students continue learning to create a presentation.

This task covers importing:

- text-box

- image

- video

and applying additional options on them, and also sharing/ turning it in.

Watch the video attached to learn how this is done. You should edit a presentation as shown in the video and turn it in the Google Classroom assignment.

Week 9 (May 18 - 24)

Create a Google Slide presentation - task 1

Students will be learning to create a presentation.

This task covers creating a presentation and changing:

  • background
  • layout
  • theme
  • transition
  • importing slides

The video to the right shows how this is done. Student should create and edit/ change a presentation as shown in the video.

Students will Turn In the presentation during the next week after finishing task 2 (to be additionally specified and presented).

Week 7 and 8 (May 4 - 17)

Create an Animation (ABCya activity - click here)

Student will be creating an animation using the animation maker on ABCya.

This activity will take two weeks. In the first week students should explore the animation maker tools, and learn and play. They create a final animation in the second week.

The topic of the animation is of student choice.

Student should play the videos (to the right) for instructions of how to start exploring the animator and save animation.

Week 5 and 6 (April 21 - 30)

Flip Book Animation (unplugged activity)

Student will be creating a flip book animation using a sticky note pad and a pen or pencil.

Please play the video (to the right) for instructions of how to make a flip book animation. The topic of the animation is of student choice. The author of the video is showing only the basics about "how to move things from side to side, make something larger and draw a stick figure jumping and waving."

Week 3 and 4 (March 25 - April 10)

Computational Thinking and Problem Solving (Code.org course/ activity link)

Student will be working on improvement on their problem solving skills (following the steps):

  1. understanding the requirements,
  2. analysis,
  3. planning,
  4. design, and
  5. implementation

He/ she should work on the activity puzzles in this course few times in a week and no longer than 30 minutes each time. Do your best to finish as much as possible of the lessons/ levels in the course, and the activities in a lesson - in the given order.

Week 2 (March 18 - 24)

Taking Photos (BrainPOP Jr. lesson link)

Say "cheese"! Learn how to set up and take a good picture!


The student should login to BrainPOP with their personal account, open the lesson following the link provided, and do the activities within the lesson in the following sequence:

  1. Watch the lesson Video
  2. Word Play
  3. Write About It
  4. Draw About It (optional)
  5. Activity (optional)
  6. Play the Games within the lesson (optional)

Note: Each activity outcome the student should Submit to Teacher (choosing 2019 Computer Education class) and bring the creations to school.

Week 1 (March 11 - 17)

Typing: BBC Bitesize - Dance Mat Typing


Student should be sitting properly and continue with the level/ stage they stopped with in the last typing class. The activity should not be longer than 30 minutes and can be repeated a few times in a week.
