1. What configurations are supported for Desktop Connector?
OS/System should be Windows 10 and above, RAM should be greater than or equal to 4GB, system should be of 64 Bits.
2. Can BA Desktop be used only from One User ID - Primary Owner?
Yes, BA desktop current beta version is specifically designed and built for business owners and also known as Primary Owner or Super-Admin. The email id used during sign-up is a Primary Owner and can only be used for the time being.
3. Can BA Desktop be used by other Business Partners or senior employees or in family business?
No, As of now , BA Desktop Application is for Primary Owner. But Yes, we will be launching soon for business to add other admins who will complete access to the BA desktop.
4. Can Business Owners use BA Desktop outside of the office network(where Tally is installed)?
Yes. Most of the users have a machine connected to Biz Analyst on which the accountant uses Tally. Here’s how you can do this:
1. You will have to install the Biz Analyst desktop app on your office network which will act as the connector app with Tally.
2. And then you can install the desktop app on your other computer as well and login and access it from outside the office network.
5. Can I add my sales team/users on the BA Desktop app?
No, as of now BA desktop features are specifically built for the needs of business owners.
However, we would like to hear compelling use cases for field sales team or other internal teams. Please share your use case to the product team (badesktop.help@khatabook.com). This will help us to decide the product roadmap.
6. How can a New Customer of BA who doesn’t have a Biz-Analyst login use the Desktop app?
If new customers want to use the desktop only, they would need to sign-up on the BA mobile connector app and add a company to start trial. Only then, they can use the BA Desktop app. This feature is under development and very soon New customers will be able to sign up on BA Desktop directly.
7. Can I use the BA Desktop on Mac OS?
No, Biz Analyst on Mac OS version will be available soon.
8. Can I use the BA Desktop on any Browser?
Browser based applications tend to provide significant network latency, hence slows down application performance. BA Desktop is a local client app on your machine which works fast with data available locally and also works when you don’t have internet connectivity.
9. Does BA Desktop work offline?
Yes, BA desktop continues to work offline but would require you to occasionally connect to the internet to get the latest data.
10. Is BA Desktop available for International users?
BA Desktop is currently only available in India.
1. Why does BA have two separate connectors- one for the BA Desktop and another for the BA mobile?
BA Desktop comes with a built-in brand new connector that is highly reliable and continuously informs the users on seamless data exchange between Tally and the BA Desktop.
After initial adoption in the market, we will start transitioning the existing BA Mobile Desktop connector to this new infrastructure. In the meantime, if you use the BA Desktop app and BA Mobile App, you would need to use the two connectors.
2. How do I connect to Tally running from Different Computer?
Connect to a valid TallyPrime licence when you have Tally running on a different computer but on the same network (Wifi)
Select ‘On a Different Computer’ on this screen Tally Running on Silver License
● Provide IP address and the ODBC Port of the Computer where Tally is running.
Tally Running on Gold license
● Get the IP address of the System where primary Tally (admin Tally) is running and on ‘Connect to Tally’ screen on the Biz Analyst app, provide IP address and ODBC Port of the Computer where Tally is running
*******How to find the IP address of a computer******:
Select Start > Settings > Network & internet > Wi-Fi and then select the Wi-Fi network you're connected to. Under Properties, look for your IP address listed next to IPv4 address
3. It says Company is not open in Tally, but company is open on Tally?
Need to close all Tabs and open the Tally where ODBC port is defined.
4. How to change the Tally connection to a different machine?
You can Click on the ‘Tally status’ shown on the right top corner of the screen of the desktop app. On the next screen click on the ‘Pencil’ icon at the bottom of the pop-up to update the Tally Host and Port Settings.
5. Can I connect to more than one Tally at the same time?
No, to ensure reliable data exchange, only one Tally can be connected for a given Tally License.
6. I have Tally.ERP9, can I use BA desktop ?
Most of the customers have upgraded from TallyERP9 to TallyPrime and there are only a few who still use ERP. Hence, we decided to support only TallyPrime Releases to ensure viability.
