Knowing what to do in the event of a fire will help you protect you, your employees, and your customers from harm and possibly minimize damage.
Be cautious when frying veggies or steak not to use too much cooking oil.
If a grease fire starts, cover the flames with a metal lid or serving tray. Leave the cover on until it has cooled.
If it’s small and manageable, pour salt on it to smother the fire.
Turn off the heat source.
As a last resort, spray the fire with a fire extinguisher.
DO NOT USE WATER
IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO EXTINGUISH THE GREASE FIRE: PULL THE ANSUL AND GET OUT!
You, the crew and guests need to leave.
Do not try to be a hero. Call 911 once you have exited the building.
