Make sure the steamer is cool to the touch before cleaning.
Start by removing the perforated pan and water tube with the metal cover from the steamer.
Use a scratch pad to clean the sides and bottom of the steam chamber. For heavy buildup, use white vinegar to clean. Dump out any remaining water.
Turn the steamer on.
Gather 3 quarts of water and 1 teaspoon of Baking Soda.
Add the Baking Soda to the water and stir until fully dissolved.
Pour the mixture into the steam chamber.
Close the lid and allow the water to heat up to boiling temperature. Allow 15 to 30 minutes to begin boiling.
Allow all of the water in the steam chamber to boil out. This may take 1-2 hours or more to complete.
Once the water has boiled out there should be a thin white coating of baking soda in the steamer chamber.
Insert the water straw, cover, and steamer pan. The steamer should be clean and ready to use.
