Thank you to all those who came to help at the Pumpkin Hunt! A HUGE thanks to Tanith Martinez for organizing the snack for the entire kindergarten! Thanks also to the parents that contributed to the group snack! We appreciate you! Conferences are coming up at Lake School the week of November 5, check next week’s folder for your conference time!
READING: Students continue to listen for the first sound in words and identify rhyming words. Students learned the sound for m, a, t, and d this week! Next week they will focus on o, c, and g. You can help your child at home by reading to them nightly!
WRITING: Students learned the correct formation for m, a, t, and d. They are working on using many colors in their writing journals and adding labels. You can help your child at home by having them write all the letters they know!
MATHEMATICS: In math students learned about tally marks! They identified tally marks to 10! At home help your student count as high as possible, by the end of kindergarten we would like them to count to 100 by 1’s, 100 by 10’s, and 100 by 2’s.
SOCIAL STUDIES: Students have enjoyed listening to stories this week and identifying the setting, characters, problem, and solution. Ask them if they enjoyed The 3 Billy Goats Gruff, The Wolf 7 Kids, The 3 Javelinas, or Peach Boy best!
MUSIC AND MOVEMENT: This week was the start of the personal hygiene unit. They focused particularly on germs, how to keep yourself healthy, and what would happen if we didn't have skin! They also learned about why it is important to keep their mouth and teeth healthy and how to make that happen through flossing, brushing teeth and eating dental healthy foods. They also practiced a dance to the Halloween song - Monster Mash!

LECTURA: Los estudiantes continúan escuchando el primer sonido en palabras e identifican palabras que riman. ¡Los estudiantes aprendieron el sonido para m, a, t y d esta semana! La próxima semana se enfocarán en o, c, y g. ¡Puede ayudar a su hijo en casa leyéndole todas las noches!
ESCRITURA: Los estudiantes aprendieron la formación correcta para m, a, t y d. Están trabajando en el uso de muchos colores en sus diarios de escritura y añadiendo etiquetas. ¡Puede ayudar a su hijo en casa haciendo que escriban todas las letras que conocen!
MATEMÁTICAS: ¡En matemáticas los estudiantes aprendieron sobre las marcas de conteo! ¡Identificaron marcas de conteo a 10! Ayude a su estudiante a contar lo más alto posible en el hogar. Para el final del jardín de infantes, nos gustaría contar hasta 100 por 1, 100 por 10 y 100 por 2.

MÚSICA Y MOVIMIENTO: Esta semana fue el inicio de la unidad de higiene personal. Se enfocaron particularmente en los gérmenes, cómo mantenerse saludable y qué pasaría si no tuviéramos piel. También aprendieron sobre por qué es importante mantener la boca y los dientes sanos y cómo hacer que eso suceda a través del uso del hilo dental, el cepillado de los dientes y el consumo de alimentos sanos y saludables. También practicaron un baile de la canción de Halloween - ¡Monster Mash!
