Spring break has arrived! Safe travels to those leaving Gunnison! Enjoy the week with your children. They have worked hard, they definitely deserve some time off school. Plus hopefully everyone can rest, recover, and get healthy! I will be out Monday and Tuesday returning from break and then at a science training. Our substitute is Mrs. Cannon, please call the office with any after school changes!
READING: Students continue blending words and reading decodable and non-decodable stories! They have read about Seth’s Mom and Seth’s Dad in their decodable story. Thanks for reading at home with your students and sending back their book bags!
WRITING: Students wrapped up “How To” writing talking about what makes a good “how to” paper and how to stay laser focused on writing. At home have students help you write lists, make cards, and write about their day.
MATHEMATICS: Student played a “Guess My Shape” game, and also created a pattern quilt. They have been working daily on counting forwards and backwards. At home have them keep counting by 1’s, 5’s, and 10’s.
SOCIAL STUDIES/SCIENCE: Students wrapped up the Columbus unit by learning about the Mayflower, Wampanoag, and the First Thanksgiving. They also have a fun Colonial Day where they went to stations and learned about: leather stamping, yarn spinning, butter churning, and biscuit making! Ask them what their favorite station was! After break we will begin the Colonial Townspeople unit.
MUSIC AND MOVEMENT: In music and movement we continued practicing how to jump over a self-turned rope. The goal is to jump over the turned rope 3 times in a row! We also celebrated St. Patrick's Day with a Leprechaun Treasure Hunt where they used math skills to count up their treasures.

Las vacaciones de primavera han llegado! ¡Viajes seguros a los que salen de Gunnison! Disfruta de la semana con tus hijos. Han trabajado duro, definitivamente merecen un tiempo fuera de la escuela. Además, espero que todos puedan descansar, recuperarse y estar saludables. Estaré ausente el lunes y el martes, regresando de las vacaciones y luego a un entrenamiento de ciencias. Nuestra sustituta es la Sra. Cannon, ¡llame a la oficina con cualquier cambio después de la escuela!
LECTURA: ¡Los estudiantes continúan mezclando palabras y leyendo historias decodificables y no decodificables! Han leído sobre la mamá de Seth y el papá de Seth en su historia descifrable. ¡Gracias por leer en casa con sus estudiantes y devolver sus mochilas!
ESCRITURA: los estudiantes concluyeron "Cómo" escribiendo sobre qué hace un buen papel de "cómo hacer" y cómo mantenerse enfocado en la escritura. En casa, haga que los alumnos lo ayuden a escribir listas, hacer tarjetas y escribir sobre su día.
MATEMÁTICAS: Los estudiantes jugaron un juego de "Adivina mi forma" y también crearon una colcha de patrones. Ellos han estado trabajando diariamente para contar hacia adelante y hacia atrás. En casa, pídales que sigan contando por 1, 5 y 10.
ESTUDIOS SOCIALES / CIENCIA: Los estudiantes concluyeron la unidad de Columbus aprendiendo sobre Mayflower, Wampanoag y el Primer Día de Acción de Gracias. También tuvieron un divertido Día Colonial en el que fueron a las estaciones y aprendieron sobre: estampado de cuero, hilado, batido de mantequilla y elaboración de galletas. ¡Pregúntales cuál fue su estación favorita! Después del descanso comenzaremos la unidad de los pobladores coloniales.
MÚSICA Y MOVIMIENTO: En música y movimiento continuamos practicando cómo saltar por encima de una cuerda girada. ¡El objetivo es saltar sobre la cuerda girada 3 veces seguidas! También celebramos el Día de San Patricio con una Búsqueda del tesoro de duendes, donde usaron habilidades matemáticas para contar sus tesoros.
