What a week full of love! It was great to connect with you all and discuss your students progress! I’m so proud of all the hard work they have put in these 104 days so far. I look forward to seeing continued growth between now and the end of kindergarten. Keep in mind that at GCS in 1st grade parents drop off and pick up students on the playground or at the door. If you think this might be a hard transition from walking your student into the kindergarten classroom daily, you might want to start trying out dropping them at the Lake door this spring!
READING: Students continue blending words and reading short stories! They did a quiz on reading words and rhyming this week. Thanks for reading at home with your students and sending back their book bags! If you have misplaced the book bag please let me know!
WRITING: Students wrote about what life is like when they are 100 years old and they wrote about weather and seasons. They are working on writing sentences from all the sounds they know. At home have students help you write lists, make cards, and write about their day.
MATHEMATICS: Students learned a new game called beat you to 15 cents! They are working on identifying and counting pennies and nickels. They also began a unit on shapes and comparing the differences between 2D and 3D shapes.
SOCIAL STUDIES/SCIENCE: Students learned about safety in storms and meteorology this week. They also did a science experiment that demonstrated rain clouds. Students will wrap up the weather unit this week and on to Columbus next week.
MUSIC AND MOVEMENT: In Music and Movement we celebrated the 100th day with 100 movement checklist. We focused on Melody, Rhythm, Timbre, and Form, using maracas and singing games. We also practiced songs and dances for Valentine's Day.

¡Qué semana llena de amor! ¡Fue genial conectar con todos ustedes y hablar sobre el progreso de sus estudiantes! Estoy muy orgullosa de todo el trabajo duro que han realizado en estos 104 días hasta ahora. Espero ver un crecimiento continuo entre ahora y el final del jardín de infantes. Tenga en cuenta que en GCS, en el 1er grado, los padres pueden dejar y recoger a los estudiantes en el patio de recreo o en la puerta. ¡Si piensa que esto podría ser una transición difícil de llevar a su estudiante al salón de clases de kindergarten a diario, tal vez quiera comenzar a probarlos y dejarlos en la puerta de Lake esta primavera!
LECTURA: ¡Los estudiantes continúan mezclando palabras y leyendo cuentos cortos! Hicieron una prueba sobre la lectura de palabras y rimas esta semana. ¡Gracias por leer en casa con sus estudiantes y devolver sus mochilas! Si ha perdido la mochila, por favor hágamelo saber.
ESCRITURA: Los estudiantes escribieron sobre cómo es la vida cuando tengan 100 años y escribieron sobre el clima y las estaciones. Están trabajando en escribir oraciones de todos los sonidos que conocen. En casa, haga que los alumnos lo ayuden a escribir listas, hacer tarjetas y escribir sobre su día.
MATEMÁTICAS: ¡Los estudiantes aprendieron un nuevo juego llamado te ganó a 15 centavos! Ellos están trabajando en la identificación y conteo de centavos y monedas de cinco centavos. También comenzaron una unidad sobre formas y compararon las diferencias entre formas 2D y 3D.
ESTUDIOS SOCIALES / CIENCIA: los estudiantes aprendieron sobre seguridad en tormentas y meteorología esta semana. También hicieron un experimento científico que demostró nubes de lluvia. Los estudiantes cerrarán la unidad del clima esta semana y luego a Columbus la próxima semana.
MÚSICA Y MOVIMIENTO: En Música y Movimiento celebramos el día 100 con 100 listas de verificación de movimientos. Nos enfocamos en Melodía, Ritmo, Timbre y Forma., usando maracas y juegos de canto. También practicamos canciones y bailes para el día de San Valentín.
