Happy New Year! Your students were so ready to learn this week! I was very impressed at how quickly and comfortably they just jumped right back into school. It is amazing to see their academic growth really shine this time of year! Before the break students completed their middle of year reading tests, and I can’t wait to share the news with you all! We will be having our “spring” Parent Teacher Conferences the week of February 11, and I look forward to discussing your students progress.
READING: Students learned the sounds for y and x and reviewed all sounds learned so far. They worked on blending and reading words with those sounds. Thanks for reading at home with your students and sending back their book bags! If you have misplaced the book bag please let me know!
WRITING: Students practiced writing y and x. They wrote about 2019 goals, and their #oneword2019. At home have students help you write lists, make cards, and write about their day.
MATHEMATICS: Students worked on using their x-ray vision to locate numbers and put them in the correct order. They learned a new game called Read My Mind and Scrambled Numbers. At home help your student count as high as possible, by the end of kindergarten we would like them to count to 100 by 1’s and 100 by 10’s!
SOCIAL STUDIES/SCIENCE: Students started the Native American unit this week! They have enjoyed playing in the tipi during play time. Students learned about the Sioux tribe’s shelter, clothing, and foods. Mrs. Rollins even came in to play a buffalo hide drum and sing a Lakota Sioux song for us!
MUSIC AND MOVEMENT: Thanks for attending the Winter Performance!

¡Feliz año nuevo! ¡Tus estudiantes estaban tan listos para aprender esta semana! Me impresionó mucho la rapidez y la comodidad con la que simplemente regresaron a la escuela. ¡Es asombroso ver que su crecimiento académico realmente brille en esta época del año! ¡Antes del descanso, los estudiantes completaron sus exámenes de lectura de mitad de año, y no puedo esperar para compartir las noticias con todos ustedes! Tendremos nuestras Conferencias de Padres y Maestras "de primavera" la semana del 11 de febrero, y espero discutir el progreso de sus estudiantes.
LECTURA: Los estudiantes aprendieron los sonidos para y y x . También revisaron todos los sonidos aprendidos hasta ahora. Trabajaron en mezclar y leer palabras con esos sonidos. ¡Gracias por leer en casa con sus estudiantes y devolver sus bolsas de lectura! Si ha perdido la bolsa, por favor hágamelo saber.
ESCRITURA: Los estudiantes practicaron la escritura y y x. Escribieron sobre los objetivos del 2019 y su # oneword2019. En casa, haga que los estudiantes lo ayuden a escribir listas, hacer tarjetas y escribir sobre su día.
MATEMÁTICAS: Los estudiantes trabajaron en el uso de su visión de rayos X para ubicar números y colocarlos en el orden correcto. Aprendieron un nuevo juego llamado Lee mi mente and Números revueltos. ¡Ayude a su estudiante a contar lo más alto posible en casa! ¡Al final del kinder, nos gustaría que cuenten hasta 100 por 1 y 100 por 10!
ESTUDIOS SOCIALES / CIENCIA: ¡Los estudiantes comenzaron la unidad de nativos americanos esta semana! Han disfrutado jugando en el tipi durante el tiempo de juego. Los estudiantes aprendieron sobre el refugio, la ropa y los alimentos de la tribu Sioux. ¡La Sra. Rollins incluso entró para tocar un tambor de piel de búfalo y cantar una canción de Lakota Sioux para nosotros!
