This is a great time of year in Kindergarten! It is warmer at recess, and the students are reading in the classroom. I am so proud of how far they have come academically. The academic and social emotional growth has been incredible. I hope you are noticing this in your student at home too.
READING: Students continue blending words and reading decodable and non-decodable stories! They have read many stories about Sam in their decodable story. They also worked on reading and writing the words: the, a, of, and all this week. Thanks for reading at home with your students and sending back their book bags!
WRITING: Coming home today is students’ “How To” writing! Hope you can take some time to hear them explain what they wrote about! Students started writing books this week. They are working on writing words first, and pictures second. They also wrote about spring and what they enjoy doing. At home have students help you write lists, make cards, and write about their day.
MATHEMATICS: Students did more shape work this week. They played I Spy 3D shapes and drew the shapes. They played shape bingo. Students also learned “Build 2 Shapes Game” and “Make it 5”. At home have them keep counting by 1’s, 5’s, and 10’s.
SOCIAL STUDIES/SCIENCE: Students continued learning about colonial times. They learned about dressmakers, shoemakers, house builders, and blacksmiths.
MUSIC AND MOVEMENT: This week has been "No-Name Calling" week in Music & Movement. We have focused on anti-bullying, no-name calling, and how to show kindness. We also officially learned our first partner dance - Mexican Hat Dance!

¡Esta es una gran época del año en Kindergarten! Es más cálido durante el recreo, y los estudiantes están leyendo en el aula. Estoy muy orgullosa de la distancia que han llegado académicamente. El crecimiento académico y socioemocional ha sido increíble. Espero que también estén notando esto en su estudiante en casa.
LECTURA: ¡Los estudiantes continúan mezclando palabras y leyendo historias decodificables y no decodificables! Han leído muchas historias sobre Sam en su historia decodificable. También trabajaron en la lectura y escritura de las palabras: el, a, de, y toda esta semana. ¡Gracias por leer en casa con sus estudiantes y devolver sus mochilas!
ESCRITURA: ¡Llegar hoy a casa es la escritura de "cómo hacer" de los estudiantes! ¡Espero que puedan tomarse un tiempo para escucharles explicar sobre lo que escribieron! Los estudiantes comenzaron a escribir libros esta semana. Están trabajando en escribir palabras primero, y luego en imágenes. También escribieron sobre la primavera y lo que les gusta hacer. En casa, haga que los alumnos lo ayuden a escribir listas, hacer tarjetas y escribir sobre su día.
MATEMÁTICAS: Los estudiantes hicieron más trabajo de forma esta semana. Jugaron formas de Spy 3D y dibujaron las formas. Jugaban al bingo de forma. Los estudiantes también aprendieron "Build 2 Shapes Game" y "Make it 5". En casa, pídales que sigan contando por 1, 5 y 10.
ESTUDIOS SOCIALES / CIENCIAS: Los estudiantes continuaron aprendiendo sobre los tiempos coloniales. Aprendieron sobre modistas, zapateros, constructores de casas y herreros.
MÚSICA Y MOVIMIENTO: Esta semana ha sido la semana de "Llamadas sin nombre" en Música y movimiento. Nos hemos centrado en la lucha contra la intimidación, las llamadas sin nombre y cómo demostrar bondad. ¡También aprendimos oficialmente nuestro primer baile de pareja - Baile del sombrero mexicano!
