Magnificent McNarys Update

December snack calendars are coming home today, and updated online. Please note when your child has snack in December! Thank you for sending in 17 healthy prepared snacks for the students! Book orders are coming home today, you can order on paper or online at https://clubs.scholastic.com/home the online code is MFBWV. The due date is December 15, if books that you order are gifts please let me know and I will not send home with your student and let you know when they arrive. We will swim on: Dec. 15, Jan. 19, Feb. 9, and Feb. 23. Please turn your paperwork in as soon as possible!
READING: Students have learned and reviewed the sounds for n, h, s, and f. We continue to work on skills such as first sound, identifying letters, and saying the sounds in words. Reading at home to or with your child is a great routine, thanks for signing and sending back the book bags!
WRITING: In writing students worked on writing n, h, s, and f! If students are writing or drawing at home have them try to add labels using the sounds they hear in the words!
MATH: Students worked building pattern block shapes! They also looked at shapes on bikes and began counting things by doubles (2’s!). At home have your student count as high as they can and practice counting by 10’s!
SOCIAL STUDIES/SCIENCE: Students finished up the unit on plants! They learned how our classroom would be almost bare without plants, we discussed all the objects made of plants. Also they learned about George Washington Carver and how he has influenced plants today! Next up, farms! Ask your student what they are wondering about farms!
MUSIC AND MOVEMENT: Students finished up the throwing and catching unit by practicing how to throw a Frisbee using: Point-Cross-Step-Flick. They then worked on a music unit that focused on the farm practicing rhythm, pitch, pulse, and melody.
SOCIAL EMOTIONAL: Students reviewed the 3 safes, and also reviewed the solution ring. I was very impressed with how well students remembered the rules and daily routines of our classroom after the week off!

LECTURA: Los estudiantes han aprendido y repasado los sonidos para n, h, s y f. Continuamos trabajando en habilidades como el primer sonido, identificando letras y diciendo los sonidos en palabras. Leer con su hijo es una gran rutina, ¡gracias por firmar y devolver las bolsas de libros!
ESCRITURA: En escritura, los estudiantes trabajaron escribiendo n, h, s y f. Si los estudiantes escriben o dibujan en casa, pídales que intenten agregar etiquetas usando los sonidos que escuchan en las palabras.
MATEMÁTICAS: Los estudiantes trabajaron construyendo formas de bloques de patrones. También miraron formas en las bicicletas y comenzaron a contar cosas por dobles (¡2's!). En casa, haga que su hijo cuente lo más alto que pueda y practique contar a los 10.
ESTUDIOS SOCIALES / CIENCIAS: Los estudiantes terminaron la unidad en las plantas. Aprendieron cómo nuestra clase estaría casi desnuda sin plantas, discutimos todos los objetos hechos de plantas. ¡También aprendieron sobre George Washington Carver y cómo ha influido en las plantas hoy! ¡Siguiente, granjas! Pregúntele a su estudiante qué están pensando acerca de las granjas.
MÚSICA Y MOVIMIENTO: Los estudiantes terminaron la unidad de lanzar y atrapar practicando cómo lanzar un disco volador usando: Paso-Cruce-Paso-Flick. Luego trabajaron en una unidad de música que se enfocaba en la granja practicando el ritmo, el tono, el pulso y la melodía.
SOCIAL EMOCIONAL: Los estudiantes repasaron las 3 seguridades y también repasaron el anillo de la solución. Estuve muy impresionada con lo bien que los estudiantes recordaban las reglas y las rutinas diarias de nuestro salón de clase después de la semana libre.
