Please note the dress up days for next week, will be fun to celebrate reading with your students! Thank you to those who have already volunteered to be “celebrity” readers! If you still would like to come read to our class, let me know what day and time are best! Another week full of hard work here in kindergarten! I’m so impressed with your children and how far they have come academically!
READING: Students continue blending words and reading decodable and non-decodable stories! They learned the sound spellings for/th/ and buzzy /th/ think is regular and them is buzzy. Thanks for reading at home with your students and sending back their book bags!
WRITING: Students started a new unit on “How To” writing. They have been writing how to draw, how to make snowmen, how to build a tower, and many other great ideas. Ask your child what “How To” they wrote about. At home have students help you write lists, make cards, and write about their day.
MATHEMATICS: Students sorted shapes by many ways this week including shape, color, size, number of sides, curved sides, straight sides. They also created shapes on a geoboard. At home have them keep counting by 1’s, 5’s, and 10’s.
SOCIAL STUDIES/SCIENCE: Students continued the study of Columbus. Ask your students where he was going, how many ships, the name of his ships, and if there were people where he landed? Friday students designed, built, and tested ships! Ask them if their ship sunk or floated!
MUSIC AND MOVEMENT: In music and movement we began learning how to jump over a self-turned rope. The goal is to jump over the turned rope 3 times in a row!

LECTURA: ¡Los estudiantes continúan mezclando palabras y leyendo historias decodificables y no decodificables! Aprendieron la ortografía del sonido para / th / y buzzy / th / think es regular y ellos son buzzy. ¡Gracias por leer en casa con sus estudiantes y devolver sus mochilas!
ESCRITURA: Los estudiantes comenzaron una nueva unidad en "Cómo hacer" la escritura. Han estado escribiendo cómo dibujar, cómo hacer muñecos de nieve, cómo construir una torre y muchas otras grandes ideas. Pregúntele a su hijo qué "Cómo" escribieron. En casa, haga que los alumnos lo ayuden a escribir listas, hacer tarjetas y escribir sobre su día.
MATEMÁTICAS: Los estudiantes clasificaron las formas de muchas maneras esta semana, incluyendo forma, color, tamaño, número de lados, lados curvos, lados rectos. También crearon formas en un geoboard. En casa, pídales que sigan contando por 1, 5 y 10.
ESTUDIOS SOCIALES / CIENCIA: Los estudiantes continuaron el estudio de Colón. Pregunte a sus alumnos a dónde iba, cuántos barcos, el nombre de sus barcos y si había personas donde aterrizó. ¡Los estudiantes del viernes diseñaron, construyeron y probaron barcos! ¡Pregúntales si su barco se hundió o flotó!
MÚSICA Y MOVIMIENTO: en música y movimiento nos enfocamos en Melodía, Ritmo, Timbre y Forma, usando maracas y juegos de canto.
