5/23=Kindergarten Outdoor Fun Day-Please send in a white t-shirt to tie-dye for our Outdoor Fun Day by May 10th ! These shirts can shrink a little when they get in the hot water, so please make sure that the shirt you send is a little big. You can send in an old or new white t-shirt! We tie-dye them in our class color!

A HUGE Thanks to the Townsend, Mullins, Crean, and Niemeyer families for bringing in emergency snack! Hopefully that will last us until the end of the year! I really appreciate your support! Please make sure your child has shoes specifically for music and movement class. Shoes that are only worn inside the building, so that we can keep the gym floor and the students safe. Outdoor Fun Day is coming up - May 23rd at Legion Park - if you are able to volunteer, please contact Miss Heinz at hheinz@gunnisonschools.net. The volunteer time is from 9:15-11:30.
READING: Students continue blending words and reading decodable and non-decodable stories! Coming home today is the Unit 8 workbook, there are many empty pages as we were working on other skills. Feel free to have your student complete pages in the book, or send to the recycle pile. Thanks for reading at home with your students and sending back their book bags!
WRITING: Students continue to work on book writing and writing in their journals. They also wrote about what they enjoy doing in spring. At home have students help you write lists, make cards, and write about their day.
MATHEMATICS: Students compared objects weight using a pan balance. They had fun finding heavier and lighter objects. They worked on how many more to make groups of 5. They also continue practicing counting to 100 and beyond! At home have them keep counting by 1’s, 5’s, and 10’s.
SOCIAL STUDIES/SCIENCE: Students learned about recycling, composting, pollution, and air pollution. They have been asking great questions about the Earth, and we are researching as a class to find the answers.
MUSIC AND MOVEMENT: Students began to learn a line ("longways" set-up) dance version of a barn dance - "Bear Went Over The Mountain". They also began the basketball unit where they are practicing dribbling using their "finger pads", keeping the ball the at their side for control, and also keeping the ball at waist level or lower.

Estas camisetas pueden encogerse un poco cuando entran en el agua caliente, así que asegúrese de que la camisa que envíe sea un poco grande. ¡Puedes mandar una camiseta blanca vieja o nueva! ¡Los teñimos de nuestro color de clase!

LECTURA: ¡Los estudiantes continúan mezclando palabras y leyendo historias decodificables y no decodificables! Siéntase libre de que su hijo complete las páginas del libro o envíelas a la pila de reciclaje. ¡Gracias por leer en casa con sus estudiantes y devolver sus mochilas!
ESCRITURA: los estudiantes continúan trabajando en la redacción de libros y en sus diarios. También escribieron sobre lo que les gusta hacer en la primavera. En casa, haga que los estudiantes lo ayuden a escribir listas, hacer tarjetas y escribir sobre su día.
MATEMÁTICAS: Los estudiantes compararon el peso de los objetos usando un balance de pan. Se divirtieron encontrando objetos más pesados y livianos. Trabajaron en cuántos más para formar grupos de 5. ¡También continúan practicando contando hasta 100 y más! En casa, pídales que sigan contando por 1, 5 y 10.
ESTUDIOS SOCIALES / CIENCIA: Los estudiantes aprendieron sobre reciclaje, compostaje, y contaminación del aire. Ellos han estado haciendo grandes preguntas sobre la Tierra, y estamos investigando como clase para encontrar las respuestas.
MÚSICA Y MOVIMIENTO: Los estudiantes empezaron a aprender una versión de baile en línea (configuración "longways") de un baile de granero: "Bear Went Over The Mountain". También comenzaron la unidad de baloncesto donde practican el goteo con sus "almohadillas para los dedos", manteniendo la pelota a su lado para el control y también manteniendo la pelota al nivel de la cintura o más abajo.
