Magnificent McNarys Update

Enjoy the Thanksgiving holiday break! I have so much to be thankful for, and your children are high on that list of thankfulness! Safe travels to all and see you on November 27th! We will swim on: Dec. 15, Jan. 19, Feb. 9, and Feb. 23. Please turn your paperwork in as soon as possible!

READING: Students have learned the sound for n, h, and s. We continue to work on skills such as first sound, identifying letters, and saying the sounds in words. Students have also began to blend sounds together to read words such as: cat, dog, dad, mom, etc. I am excited to see them show growth and start to read! Thank you for sending the book bags back in and signed! Reading at home to or with your child is a great routine!

WRITING: In writing students worked on writing n, h, and s! You can help your students by making sure when they write their name they are using a capital first letter and lowercase letters for the rest. Have students draw, make cards, or lists at home to practice writing and drawing.

MATH: Students worked on their number racks and identifying numbers. They learned the new games of “Beat you to 10” and “Number Bingo”! Over the break have your students write their numbers as high as they can and count as high as they can by 1’s and 10’s!

SOCIAL STUDIES/SCIENCE: Students continue to study plants. This week they learned how bees are so important with pollination and they learned about Johnny Appleseed, deciduous trees, and evergreen trees.

MUSIC AND MOVEMENT: Students continued with the throwing and catching by: practicing throwing overhand and underhand at a target, learning how to throw a football and frisbee, and celebrating Thanksgiving with a “Turkey Bowl”!

SOCIAL EMOTIONAL: Students talked about being sad and how they can notice their friends face to see how they are feeling. We talked about how happy is a comfortable feeling and unhappy is an uncomfortable feeling.

¡Disfruten de las vacaciones de Acción de Gracias! Tengo tanto por lo que estar agradecida, ¡y sus hijos están en mi lista de agradecimientos! ¡Viajen seguros todos y nos vemos el 27 de noviembre! Nadaremos el 15 de diciembre, el 19 de enero, el 9 de febrero y el 23 de febrero. ¡Por favor, entregue su documentación lo antes posible!

LECTURA: Los estudiantes han aprendido el sonido para n, h, y s. Continuamos trabajando en habilidades como el primer sonido, identificando letras y diciendo los sonidos en palabras. Los estudiantes también han comenzado a mezclar sonidos juntos para leer palabras como: gato, perro, papá, mamá, etc. ¡Estoy emocionada de ver que muestran crecimiento y comienzan a leer! ¡Gracias por enviar las bolsas de libros y firmar el documento! ¡Leer en casa o con su hijo es una gran rutina!

ESCRITURA: ¡en escritura los estudiantes trabajaron escribiendo n, h, y s! Puede ayudar a sus alumnos asegurándose de que cuando escriben su nombre están usando una primera letra mayúscula y letras minúsculas para el resto. Haga que los estudiantes dibujen, hagan tarjetas o listas en casa para practicar la escritura y el dibujo.

MATEMÁTICAS: Los estudiantes trabajaron en sus bastidores de números e identificando los números. ¡Aprendieron los nuevos juegos de "Te gano hasta 19" y "Bingo con números"! ¡Durante la vacación, haz que tu estudiante escriba sus números lo más alto posible y cuenten lo más alto que puedan por 1 y 10!

ESTUDIOS SOCIALES / CIENCIAS: Los estudiantes continúan estudiando plantas. Esta semana aprendieron cómo las abejas son tan importantes con la polinización y aprendieron sobre Johnny Semillamanzana, árboles de hoja caduca y árboles de hoja perenne.

MÚSICA Y MOVIMIENTO: Los estudiantes continuaron con el lanzamiento y la captura: practicando arrojar por encima y por debajo de la mano a un blanco, aprendiendo cómo lanzar una pelota de fútbol y frisbee, y celebrando el Día de Acción de Gracias con un juego de "Bolos de Pavo".

EMOCIONAL SOCIAL: Los estudiantes hablaron sobre estar tristes y cómo pueden ver a sus amigos de cara para ver cómo se sienten. Hablamos de lo feliz que es un sentimiento cómodo e infeliz es una sensación incómoda.
