研究データの利用条件

研究データは著作物として認められない場合もあります（例：単なる客観的事実やデータ）。一方で、研究データが著作権を有しており、研究データの作成者や管理者が、利用許諾の条件（ライセンス）を示している場合は、利用の際に従う必要があります。

研究データの引用

研究データを引用する際は、論文を引用する場合と同様に引用元を明記する必要があります。

例：
作成者(出版年): タイトル. [データのバージョン.] 出版者. [データのタイプ.] 識別子

※「出版者」には、データ所有者の所属機関名もしくはデータが公開されているリポジトリの名称を記入してください。
※データのバージョンやタイプは必須ではありません。
※記号の使い方、記載順序は分野によって異なります。

Databases and Repositories for Searching Research Data

If the research data you need has already been generated by other researchers, utilizing such data can enhance the efficiency of your research.

Data Citation Index
Data Citation Index includes bibliographic and subject metadata from research data sets and data studies from a wide range of international data repositories. Source records include three document types: Repository, Data Study, and Data Set. Coverage includes research areas in the social sciences, physical sciences, life sciences, and humanities. Data Citation Index is included in the Web of Science, to which the University of Tokyo has a subscription (1900–present).

You can search for research data with persistent identifiers.

Conditions for Using Research Data

Research data, such as mere factual information or raw data, may not be regarded as copyrightable works. On the other hand, when research data is protected by copyright and a data creator, data provider, or copyright holder specifies conditions of use (licenses), it is necessary to comply with them when using the data.

Citing Research Data

When citing research data, you must clearly indicate the source, just as you would when citing a research paper.

e.g.:
Creator(s) (Publication Year): Title. [Data version.] Publisher. [Resource type.] Identifier (DOI)

Note: 

• In the “Publisher”, please write the name of the data owner's affiliated institution or the name of the repository where the data is published.

• Data version and Resource type are not required.

• The use of symbols and the order of elements in a citation depend on the research field.
