Year 10 Dance focuses on advancing dance techniques across various styles, refining choreographic skills, and developing creative and collaborative ways of expression through movement. Students deepen their understanding of dance as an art form and study choreographic tools and structures. Emphasis is placed on creativity, collaboration, and originality in dance making. Students engage in analysing exemplary performances and rehearse and perform solo and group works. The course also explores dance history, context, and performance refinement.
Dance Pathway
Dance builds on skills gained in Dance and Drama Years 7 to 9. It further develops physical and choreographic skills, including safe dance practices. Dance leads to VCE Dance and can be pursued at a tertiary level through studies in Creative Arts (Contemporary Dance), Music Theatre and Dance Education. Dance teaching and management are also available through TAFE. Dance studies can lead to a vast range of careers including performance, choreography and teaching.
