Year 10 Elective
Music
Students explore music making, solo and ensemble performances, composition, improvisation, and collaboration. Discover various instruments and basic theory, build confidence in stage presence, and express yourself through original compositions. Throughout the course, students will be encouraged to draw inspiration from diverse cultures and experiences, including First Nations traditions, to infuse their compositions with unique insights and narratives. Embrace the thrill of music improvisation and explore diverse genres. Collaborate with peers in ensemble performances, showcase your talent in solo renditions, and extend skills using music technology. Keep fostering a lifelong passion for music, camaraderie, and creative expression.
Music Performance Pathway
Year 10 Music Performance builds on the skills and concepts learned in previous music electives as well as skills learned in Instrumental Music. Music Performance offers students an opportunity to play an instrument allowing students to learn or further develop and extend their creative, analysis, reading, writing, performance and listening skills. Music Performance leads to VCE Music Performance and/or Music investigations where students can specialise in Group or Solo Performance and then to tertiary degrees including performance, composition, arranging or teaching.
