Literature is the study of texts. It is similar to text response units completed in English where students look at the setting, plot, characters, themes and ideas in a text, however in Literature we dive deeper. Literature looks at a wide variety of texts of different forms (novel, play, poetry, film/television, short story etc.) to consider how authors construct text to create meaning, but also how readers bring their own ideas and meanings to texts. Students who enjoy reading and thinking deeply about texts often enjoy the study of Literature.
