BYOD Non-preferred devices may be used.
These devices can be viewed via the JBEducation portal using the code BYOD2025 or via device retailers.

BSC strongly recommends that parents/carers consider purchasing insurance as outlined below.

Delivery of IT Service
Devices purchased through the JBEducation portal are
delivered directly to BSC
managed by the IT Department upon receipt
entered into the IT imaging service upon receipt on a first-come-first-served basis
distributed to the owning student via the Home group
Devices purchased from an external supplier
Parents/Carers and students can only submit a BYOD device after completing the actions outlined below.
Devices must be delivered to the school on the first day of the school year and submitted to the General Office along with associated documentation (outlined below). The BSC IT Department will take possession of each devices and undertake the process of connecting it to the school system. The device will be returned to the student via the Home Group program.
Any device submitted must be clearly labelled with the student's full name and Home Group.
The device must meet or exceed these requirements to effectively use on the schools’ network.
Have a battery life of at least 8 hours.
Be able to run the latest version operating systems
Have a physical keyboard (i.e., not an on-screen keyboard)
Have a screen size: 11.6" or greater
Have a working camera and microphone. A stylus or touch screen can also be helpful.
Support 2.4 and/or 5Ghz wireless
Basic access to software requires 8GB RAM requirements. It is recommended to allow 16gGB of RAM to future-proof access to all high end programs such as Adobe products
Have all information backed up and be ready for the new image where applicable. The ‘image’ is the suite of programs and digital software used by the school.
NOTE: BSC cannot be held liable for any loss of data when imaging the device
Parent/carers and/or students are responsible for ensuring that the BYOD Non-Preferred Device is ready for connection to the BSC network (BSC Wi-Fi and printer access).
To ready your device you must
Label the device with the student’s full name.
Ensure the device is functioning correctly
Ensure the device has up-to-date antivirus software.
Remove any unrequired software (e.g., games, VPN)
Perform backup of all data. BSC IT Department cannot be held liable for any loss of data during the imaging process.
Ensure there are no passwords which will prevent the student from using the computer or change its configuration (e.g., connecting to a wireless network).
Ensure the device is fully charged.
Read the BSC Digital Technology Acceptable Use Agreement
Download, complete and print BYOD – Request to Connect to BSC Network Form - your device will not be linked to the BSC Network unless this form are submitted.
Deliver the device and documentation to the BSC General Office for our action.
WARRANTY AND ACCIDENTAL DAMAGE PROTECTION (ADP)
BSC IT staff are unable to repair or provide warranty services to hardware.
Technical support will be limited to providing access to the wireless network and approved software.
Repairs and warranty of claims for BYOD devices must be facilitated/negotiated by the owner.
ADP (ACCIDENTAL DAMAGE PROTECTION) is an additional insurance policy which you can purchase via the supplier and ONLY covers accidental damage to the device.
Current laws mandate that ADP can only be offered 4 days after purchase.
Damaged devices should be presented to the BSC IT Department for assessment, or assessment information can be found on the BSC Student IT Support Page
Devices covered by ADP will be repaired/replaced as per the respective PDS.

Parents/carers should check Home & Contents insurance for coverage with reference to theft/loss and accidental damage.
