What is this Subject?

In Accounting you will immerse yourself in are range of businesses as diverse as rock bands to landscape designers.   In a number of unique circumstances, you will record, report and offer financial advice.  Additionally, you will engage in applied learning such as playing Monopoly to understand cash records or analysing and interpreting your performance in running a business using a video game such as Lemonade Tycoon. Furthermore, you will learn how to invest in the ASX. 

It is highly recommended that students start Accounting at Unit 1 to establish a foundation of knowledge that will be applied throughout all units.

What will you be doing in this subject?  

You will be:

• Exploring the Accounting process from identifying source documents to helping stakeholders make business decisions

• Preparing reports such as the Income Statement, Cash Flow Statement and the Balance Sheet

• Learning about various investment options such as the share market

• Analysing and interpreting graphs of key financial ratios
