LA MRS. SCHMITT
This week students will continue to focus on the essential question: "How do characters and their interactions teach us lessons?" Students will continue to characterization strategies to demonstrate their understanding of a text, while beginning to focus on determining the theme of a text. Students will also be introduced to and practice strategies that support their thinking of the theme and central message of a text.
These strategies will be modeled with the whole class, then students will work independently to complete the strategies using various 4th grade level texts. We will be reading Wonder as our main read aloud/mentor text, as well as a few fiction picture books.
Students are learning about reflexive pronouns.
We are analyzing well crafted mentor sentences as a class. Students are also practicing these skills on IXL, Khan Academy, and Freckle Apps.

Weekly Reading Log for week of 10/17-10/21. Due by Friday 10/21. The form is posted on their Language Arts Google Classroom.
Vocabulary Test on Thursday, October 27. Vocabulary Unit 4 words were reviewed in class today and have been posted on Google Classroom, as well as on the Google Site Resource page titled Vocabulary. An example vocabulary test has also been posted on Google Classroom.
MATH: MRS. BENNETT
This week will continue to work through our next Module on Interpret and Solve Problem Situations. Students will demonstrate different ways to write multiplication and division equations to help solve comparison problems. Students will also explain how multiplication and division can be used to solve the same problem. In order to be successful at these skills, students will utilize bar models and inverse operations.

SOCIAL STUDIES: MRS. CRUSH
We will continue our unit of Geography of the United States. Students will understand that the United States has a diverse geography and various maps can be used to represent and examine the geography. They will identify and map major physical features, including mountains, rivers, lakes, and large bodies of water. They will also examine climate and vegetation maps to explore the relationship between physical features and vegetation/climate. We will continue our studies about the Northeast Region. Students will be assessed on the state capitals + states and they will also be researching and presenting a landmark on the Northeast Region. They will continue to work on their Northeast Region Projects and will be presenting in a couple of weeks.
RELIGION: MRS CRUSH
This week we will begin talking about the Rosary. We will learn the history of the Rosary, the different prayers and mysteries, and why it is important to Catholics. Mrs. Gordon from our Ascension Parish Office will be joining us to create rosaries. We will also begin Ch. 2, "Praise and Thanksgiving, " in our Blest Are We workbooks. We will be able to name special gifts that God has given us, understand that at Mass we give thanks and praise to God, especially for the gift of Jesus, learn the Scripture account of the Last Supper, and learn about the life of Pope Pius X.
