MICROSOFT EXCEL #3 - It's PARTY TIME! (part-1)

For this project, we learn how to throw a party with Microsoft Excel.  Check out the info sheet below for more details on what you need to do in order to plan your party.

Party Time - Project Info Sheet

Be sure to SAVE your work when finished.  We will use this data in Lesson-10.

MICROSOFT EXCEL #3 - It's PARTY TIME! (part-2)

Now that we typed our list of guests and what treat they are going to bring to the party, it is time to make the invitations.  But writing out invitations takes too long....if only there was a way to make just one invitation, personalize it to each guest, and send it automatically to all 10 guests!  Wait a minute, there is!!!  It's called a MAIL MERGE!  Watch the short video below to see how it works.

Now it is time to Open MS Word.  Create a new document and title it "Party Invitation--yourFIRSTlastNAME".

Using the techniques you just learned from the Mail merge Video above, create your party invitation.  Be sure to use proper formatting, and include all of the merge fields.  Please see the example below:

List of Names in MS Excel                        Invite in MS Word with Merge Fields

Invite in MS Word with Name Record - 1        Invite in MS Word with Name Record - 2

When you finish your invitation, please merge your records and fields into MS Word.  Preview through your invitation to make sure that ALL 10 Records showed up correctly.  If they did not, go back and make changes.  Turn in the finished and merged files to Mr. P, as a SCREENSHOT of the invitation showing both merged and un-merged. (similar to what I did above)  If you are not turning in two screen shots, one MS Word file, and one MS Excel file, then you are doing it wrong.
