About Microsoft Word and SAVING on a PC as opposed to Google Docs/Drive....
Organization and Folders are always a good idea
You have a Home Directory/Drive, known as your H: Drive
Your H: Drive starts with your last name or User ID
Your H: Drive is where we will save all of your work
You must SAVE your work, it will NOT automatically save for you
Microsoft Word is similar to Google Docs, but has many more features and advanced tools
You can upload files from your H: Drive to your Google Drive and you can download files from your Google Drive to your H: Drive. It works both ways
Don't forget to save. If you do forget, no crying or whining, simply re-do the work.
Business Letters
Block Style Letter (SAMPLE) -- 9 times out of 10, you'll use this kind of letter.
Modified Block Style Letter (SAMPLE) -- This style is rarely used, but important to know.
ASSIGNMENT - Practice Business Letter #1
1--Open this sample letter on your iPad, and set your iPad next to your PC so you can see the iPad and your monitor at the same time.
2--Type this sample letter in Microsoft Word.
3--Format the sample letter as BLOCK STYLE Format. See links above for details in case you forgot how to format in block style
4--When you finish the letter, save it to your H: Drive, title should be:
"Business Sample Letter-1--yourLASTnameYOURfirstNAME"
5--Make sure you SAVE YOUR WORK!
Log-on to http://www.edutyping.com/ and continue working on your typing practice.
Remember, NO PEEKING at your keyboard. LOOK at your MONITOR, NOT the keys!
Homework = NONE. Enjoy the rest of your day!
