Warm Up Activity (2-4 min)

Turn & Talk at your table....What stocks/sectors will be the Hottest and Fastest Growing in the next 3-4 months?  Why?  Defend your claim.

Stock Market TEAM Discussion

Take out your list of 25 stocks.  (Turn this in to Mr. P NOW)

Compare & Share with your group.

Put a star (*) next to your five favorite stocks on your list.

You each need to pick ONE stock that will be yours to follow over the next 8 weeks.  No one else in your group can have the same stock as you.    This stock should be a company that you are INTERESTED IN, because you will be doing a lot of research on it in the very near future.  

Once each team member has their stock selected, create ONE Google Doc for your group, and share it with Mr. P and ALL team members.  Name the Document the name of your stock market team (i.e. SaratogaSTEM-7)  The document should list the following for each team member:

• First Name

• Last Name

• Stock Name

• Stock Symbol

• Market it is traded on

• Approximate Price per Share (this will obviously fluctuate)

AFTER Mr. P approves your group document, you may go on to the next activity.

Stock Market Game - Time to Play!!!

1)  Log on to https://www.stockmarketgame.org/

2)  Read the Rules of the Game. (This can be found under the RESOURCES tab

3)  Make the following trades:

     --Each Team Member should purchase 10 shares of their stock for the                company they are researching as outlined in the shared document from          the previous step above.

4)  Click on the tab titled "TRADE", then select "ENTER A TRADE"

5)  That will take you to a screen that looks like this:

6)  Click on the Blue Button that says "STOCK TRADE", and that will take you to a screen that looks like this:

       Now enter the information as it calls for below:

        --ACTION = Buy          

        --SYMBOL = your stock symbol

        --ORDER TYPE = Market

        --NUMBER OF SHARES = 10     

        --Limit Price = Just leave this alone....

CLICK on the grey "PREVIEW" Button, and then click the grey "CONFIRM TRADE" button on the next screen.  You'll also need to re-enter your password to confirm the trade.

You know your order went thru if you see a screen like this:
