MOVIE TRAILERS
Whenever you go to a movie at the theater, they never seem to start on-time. Let's say you go to a movie that supposedly starts at 6:15pm. Does the movie start playing right at 6:15pm? NO! In fact, they usually play 12-20 minutes worth of Previews for upcoming movie releases. These previews are called "Trailers".
The purpose of a Movie Trailer is to get the potential audience hooked, and build up the hype for a movie release. Some trailers are 30 seconds, others 2-3 minutes. It varies.
Let's take a look at a few examples:
ALL of the movie trailers shown above needed many people to be successful. Actors, Directors, Marketing Specialists, Budget/Finances, Production Specialists, Video Editors, Voice Actors, etc. Just think of all the money and time that goes into a movie...and this is just the trailer....WOW!
Your Turn - Create a 30-Second Trailer for Your Movie!
Use iMovie (preferred) or any other video editing software that you might have on your iPad
UPLOAD your video to Google Classroom When finished.
What kind of trailer will you have for your movie?
It will be challenging, because you haven't filmed any scenes, therefore you'll have to create more of a PITCH or CONCEPT Trailer.
Pitch trailer. In the filmmaking industry, a pitch trailer, also known as a Concept Trailer or Proof Of Concept Trailer, is a movie trailer produced independently by the filmmaker for the sole purpose of illustrating the concept, style and theme of a feature film.
Be sure to mention the plot, introduce characters, challenge your potential audience etc.
Your Trailer should be 29-61 seconds total.
