Today's Lesson - PART-1

Reflective Question--

Did you finish your PRINT AD from Lesson-8?  If you have NOT finished your PRINT AD, you MUST come in for FLEX and CONNECT to get it done!

Today's Lesson - PART-2

(Mr. P's Daily Demo! -- Examining Movie Posters!)

How BIG is a movie poster?

Most Teaser Posters are 24" wide by 36" tall.  Some are double-sided.

Why do they call them TEASER Posters?

Because they are meant to "tease" the audience by getting them excited for the movie (build the hype!)  Teaser posters are released way before the movie is...

Here are a few examples from some very popular films:

POP QUIZ!  There are six posters shown above.  4 are Teasers, 2 are Not.  Which ones are Teasers?  Which are not?  How can you tell?

(Also, please notice how AWESOME the FONTS are on these posters.  That did not happen by accident.  Be intentional when selecting your font.  It should match the tone/theme of the movie.)

Today's Lesson - PART-3

CREATE A MOVIE POSTER for your FAVORITE MOVIE of all time. Use ALL of your Photoshop Knowledge to make the best Poster possible.

You are creating a RELEASE-Style Poster.

Set up your Photoshop Document to be size 8" wide by 12" tall.  This is proportional to a real Movie Poster.

FONT and SPACE are CRUCIAL when creating an effective movie poster.  Research your fonts carefully, and do a nice job selecting your color scheme.

Your poster starts with a PICTURE/IMAGE.  Everything else comes after that.

Make sure your Font is in a color and blended so that it will POP off the background and/or background image.

See all that tiny print on the bottom of the movie posters?  Yes, you should include that on your poster.  Find out the major actors/directors/producers names and include them on your poster.  This font will be much smaller, and usually towards the bottom of your poster.  You may need to research on http://www.imdb.com/ for this information.

This project will have MANY LAYERS.  Please be sure to LABEL THEM accordingly.  It will help you later if you are organized early.

Going the EXTRA MILE?

If there is time, make your poster DOUBLE-SIDED.  On side A, have a Teaser Design, and on Side-B, have a Movie Release Design.

Since you already made the RELEASE version, now make a TEASER.

                QUALITY!  --  QUALITY!  --  QUALITY!

Good Luck on this project, I know you will do AMAZING!

Homework = NONE.  :)
