Participating in the SDG Exhibition and representing SDG 12: Ensure Sustainable Consumption and Production Patterns was an eye-opening and rewarding experience. Preparing the materials and engaging with visitors deepened my understanding of the importance of responsible consumption and waste reduction. It was fulfilling to see people interact with our booth, reflect on their consumption habits, and discuss ways to adopt more sustainable lifestyles. Many visitors were surprised to learn about the environmental impact of excessive waste and unsustainable production methods, and they expressed curiosity about practical steps they could take. The exhibition served as an effective platform for knowledge-sharing, with meaningful discussions on reducing plastic use, supporting ethical brands, and minimizing food waste. Initially, many visitors had limited awareness of SDG 12, but through infographics, posters, and interactive discussions, they gained valuable insights into sustainable living. Their reactions, ranging from shock to motivation, emphasized the need for greater awareness of responsible consumption. To integrate SDG 12 into education, the B.ED TESL program should incorporate sustainability topics into literature and storytelling, encourage project-based learning on waste management, and promote community outreach programs focused on sustainability. By equipping future educators with knowledge and strategies for teaching SDGs, we can foster responsible global citizens who are conscious of their environmental impact and motivated to drive change.
