For the preparation phase, my partner, Yazeed, and I worked diligently to design an engaging and interactive lesson. We brainstormed extensively to ensure that our activity would capture the students' interest while fostering meaningful learning experiences. After careful consideration, we selected The Happy Prince by Oscar Wilde as our short story. This choice was deliberate, as the story is rich in moral values and life lessons that resonate deeply with students. Our hard work in planning paid off, as the lesson turned out to be a huge success students responded well to the story, and the engagement level was high throughout the session.
Moving on to the teaching session, I recognize that there were areas where I could have improved. While the lesson was effective overall, I feel that my instructions could have been clearer to ensure smooth execution of the activities. Additionally, I struggled slightly with classroom management, as I was still adjusting to maintaining control while keeping the lesson interactive. Another aspect that could have been enhanced was the depth of information provided about the lesson. Had I been less nervous, I believe I could have delivered more insights, guiding the students to explore deeper meanings within the story.
Despite these areas for improvement, this micro-teaching session was an invaluable learning experience for me. It provided me with a clearer understanding of my strengths and weaknesses as a teacher. While I am proud of the effort I put into preparing the lesson, I also acknowledge the aspects I need to work on, such as improving my clarity in giving instructions, enhancing my classroom management skills, and building confidence in delivering lesson content. I now have a better grasp of what it takes to create a well-balanced and engaging lesson, and I am eager to apply these lessons in future teaching opportunities.
This experience has reinforced my passion for teaching and has motivated me to continue improving my skills. Moving forward, I plan to practice clearer communication, refine my instructional strategies, and develop better techniques for managing the classroom environment. With these improvements, I believe I can become a more effective educator who not only delivers content but also inspires and engages students in meaningful learning experiences.
